Park Plaza- 1 Westminster Bridge Hotel a four star 1037 bedroom hotel in opposite the historic Houses of Parliament Westminster. Completed in 2010 the hotel is one of the largest hotels in the UK.

 

The client- a joint venture between Frogmore, Malbray and Park Plaza Hotels. 1 Westminster Bridge, on the site of the former GLC headquarters offices. The design proposed transforming the island site into a peninsula - with pedestrian connections to the Addiington Street – Park Plaza County Hall Hotel and County Hall residential sites.

 

The scheme has created one of the largest ballrooms in London with a clear single span of 32m. 3 large atriums link the floors and the main atrium provides a connecting volume throughout the hotel, whilst providing key view to the Houses of Parliament.

ICompleted in 2008 Addington Street is a four star Apart-Hotel adjacent to Westminster Bridge, London. The building comprises of 396 Apart-Hotel suites and rooms, spread over fifteen floors, together with leisure and office facilities. The main hub of the design is the central atrium that runs the full height of the building. The design provides a space into which all the peripheral spaces can flow.

The proposal for a Boutique Hotel, of approximately thirty-nine stories in height, plus podium, measured from Marsh Wall, containing 305 hotel rooms, serviced offices conference rooms, restaurants / cafes / bar at podium ground, first floor, thirty-sixth and thirty-seventh floor (A1/A2/A3/A4 Use), and hotel auxiliary facilities including a gym, pool & spa and business lounge, and 1 disabled car parking space accessed from lower ground floor level.

 

The design responds to the new emerging urban scale along the ‘Marsh Wall Corridor’; taking into consideration the height, bulk and mass with the existing and newly consented buildings in the immediate area.

 

The hotel scheme will provide a high quality public realm which is appropriate, attractive amenity space for the building users and local community. Reducing the building footprint in order to opening up and maximise the ground plane to provide great new public external spaces.

and cafe/ restaurant areas. The site is located in the Lower Marsh Conservation Area, the buildings massing response the intermediate scale of Westminster Bridge Road, while to the rear of the site the massing increases in response to the wider urban scale.
